Questions Most Often Asked?

Which pool heating system is best for my customer?

There's no one heating system that's best. Determining the heating system is a matter of presenting all options and helping your customer decide which is appropriate for their particular needs. See the section on Pool Heating Options & FAQ for details on which system is best for your particular customer.

Keep in mind that a pool blanket is recommended for all heating systems. For convenience, some customers may elect to add a pool cover roller. Heating a pool without a pool blanket is like heating a house with the windows open, it doubles the cost of operating a heat pump or gas heater, and decreases the effectiveness of a solar heater.

Types of Heating Systems

Solar Heating Systems are best for recreational pool use and recommended for those who are comfortable with pool temperatures ranging from the high 70's to the mid 80's, during the swimming season.  Solar systems generally last 15 to 20 years, operate economically, and require minimal maintenance. Solar systems, utilize the sun's heat, and unlike gas or electricity, generally pay for themselves in about two years.

Heat Pumps are best for those who enjoy swimming regardless of the weather, for homes that may not be solar feasible, and for those who swim for therapeutic reasons and require constant temperatures. Heat pumps are complex pieces of equipment and there's quite a range in quality and price. Heat pumps are also a form of solar heater, as the sun-warmed air contributes to the heating efficiency of these units. Depending on the size of the pool and how warm it is kept the cost of heating with a heat pump costs between $200.00 - $500.00 per season.

Gas is best for heating pools or spas quickly for short periods. Gas is effective, but expensive. For example, a customer may only heat their pool when guests and grandkids visit or they may spend short periods of time at a second home and want the pool to be heated while they're there. In this situation gas is recommended. Gas costs 60% to 80% more to operate than heat pumps.

How much lead time do I need?

We can generally schedule a delivery of equipment in 1 to 7 working days and schedule an installation in 3 to 10 working days.

What if I have sizing or technical questions?

Our staff will help you determine the size of system. We also have an engineer on staff to answer any questions and help with more complex designs or price estimating situations.

How long has your company been in business?

We've been in the business of heating swimming pools since 1986 and have over 5000 clients.

As you can see our Contractor Program makes sales of pool heating systems easy and profitable.
